About The Hideaway

In late 2013, father and son and Annapolis natives Bob and Mike Krohn heard that a neighborhood restaurant and bar named Jim’s Hideaway might be on the market. Bob had last been to the restaurant about thirty years earlier and had fond memories of eating hard crabs at there. Jim Keeney, the much-loved owner of Jim’s Hideaway, died in 2006, after owning the restaurant for about 35 years. They were fascinated by the character of the building and the wonderful part Jim’s Hideaway had played in the history of the community, and decided to buy it.

After almost a year of renovations, in March of 2015 it was re-opened under the name The Hideaway, changing the name just enough to respect the history of the restaurant, while letting people know that their beloved institution was under new ownership. Bob’s passion for BBQ and Mike’s passion for bourbon made for a quintessentially American menu, with the personal touch and care of a family-run business.

The rest is history; The Hideaway has grown to employ 90 amazing employees, and is loved in its own right, with loyal customers traveling from near and far for the award-winning food, one of the best whiskey selections in the region, and a great selection of craft beer. Bob and Mike are proud to have continued Hideaway’s charitable relationship with the community and are very thankful for all our wonderful customers and friends, particularly our friends at Ft. Meade.

In November of 2019, Bob & Mike opened the Hideaway’s sister location, Julep Kitchen & Bar in Annapolis. Check them out here.
